I love the play-offs! and good neighbors

After a very crappy day of frusteration, disappointments and stress. My day couldn't have ended on a more happier note. The Jazz won the Lakers in there 3rd playoffs game, My favorite brother in law changed my car battery so Jen Gillen doesn't have to come give it a jump every morning (thanks, by the way) and Kristine Robinson brought me a big huge diet Coke after I cried and vented to her and Marcy Cullen during their hair appointments. What a day!!!! Thank heavens for lovely neighbors i can count on!!!! You guys are life-savers......really!

Easter Bunny stopped by......finally!

Easter Fun,......and, not so fun!!!!!

The Easter Bunny has yet to visit our house. He called and said that because The Weight family has been so riddled with illness, he would wait until the weekend after Easter to make his stop and leave those much anticipated Easter treats (cadbury mini-eggs...that's what I'm talking about, baby!)

So while the rest of the worlds Easter stash has diminished over the last week, we will just be receiving are stash, and no, we will not share! You see, 2 weeks ago, I was sick with strep. Then the Thursday before Easter, James Edward came down with a very NaStY strain of strep, 2 days later Jett, had a fever of 103.7. So I was nursing them both back to help.

The very next day after Jett struck fever's, Jagger awoke from his nap with a fever and what he likes to call, "an owie ear", yes, he had an ear ache. To top it of Chase had been having croup the last couple of nights, and James Edward's strep turned into Scarlet fever!!!!!

"What the Crap?!?!?!?!?" Do we have giant red X's on our back, because we sure seem like targets for all bacteria and virus's!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I'm tired just remembering all of that. I went to the doctors 3 x's and the pharmacist at Walgreen's has now become my new BFF and asks about my family every time I stop in to fill a prescription for one of the "sickies". In fact, last time I left to pick up Jagger's augmentin, the pharmacist waved good-bye and said, "see ya next week".

How sad.

When i got home and had all medicines lined up to give each of my 4 boys, Jagger looked at me and said, "are you the doctor, mommy?" ........Pretty much!!!! I feel like one. in fact I am opening up a family practice in my kitchen so if any of you are sick I am pretty sure I know what it is you have and I probably have the medicine to treat and administer it!!!!

These have all been in the last week...

Hence....why the Easter Bunny has failed to show his fluffy face, and floppy stinkin' ears!!!!

On a happier note we did manage to color are eggs on Friday Night, using Char's new method of dying eggs with silk ties. And even though mine didn't turn out half as great as hers (surprise, surprise, everything she touches turns to gold!) It was fun and the kids had a good time.

Our friends, Ike and Bethany got in on the action too!!!

we wrapped the ties around the eggs, and then wrapped muslin over that and put on some rubber bands to keep the fabric intact.

We then placed the wrapped eggs in a boiling solution of water and vinegar for 20 minutes.

and here we have the finished product!!! fun, and creative.

My New Salon Blog

I have created another Blog. I know what you are all thinking,........."Jami needs to get a life." Yeah...you are probably right. But just FYI this is a blog specifically made for my ventures as a hairdresser. I will rant and rave about new styles, products, make-up art techniques and be posting plenty of "before and after" photos of my clients (with their given permission of course).
So I would invite you to check it out and if you would be so kind as to add a link to it on your own blog to help prevent the spread of bad hair I would appreciate it. Enjoy!!!

You can also find a link to my new blog on this page in the upper left hand corner.

Light Keepers

Did you know that light and darkness cannot in any way, occupy the same space at the same time?????? Light will always drowned out darkness...

I have the wonderful privilege of serving amongst the Young Women in my ward family. I love this calling with all of the energy, laughter and sometimes challenges that comes with every young teen-age girl. These girls are amazing! I love all of them and I love the Young women's program. It truly is an inspired program.

One of my favorite things about the Young Women's program is there motto and Logo which is,

“Stand for Truth and Righteousness.”

The Young Women logo is a torch surrounded by the Young Women motto. The torch represents the light of Christ, inviting all to “come unto Christ” (Moroni 10:32). It invites all young women to hold up the light of Christ by keeping His commandments.

How appropriate for the time we are in. I will admit.....I am starting to feel that little pinch at my soul to be prepared. Not only physically with food storage, and getting out of debt and all things temporal, but more importantly, spiritually...

I am saddened when I think back to my child hood and remember how easy going life was. I used to ride my bike up and down and around my neighborhood with my neighborhood buddies, have sleepovers, stay out and play street games like, kick the can. When school started every year my sweet dad would give us a blessing and a pep talk to prepare us for what would lie ahead in the school year.
But now, I am not sure there are words to prepare us for what lies in the future, especially the youth of this world. I know that fear is the opposite of faith, but admittedly I do fear for my children...

The gray area between black and white seems to be widening faster and faster. The standards of the world are so quick to change. I would never have dreamed I would live to see the day that Homosexuality, promiscuity, and immorality would be so rampant in the world.

I watch my children like a hawk. I guess you could call me a "helicopter" mom. I hover....for sure, I hover.

But, with all of the uncertainty the world brings, with it's ever changing standards and evil and darkness. i am so grateful to have Light... Light and darkness cannot occupy the same space at the same time. This is both a physical and spiritual law. Light is always stronger than darkness...for where light is, darkness cannot be.

I love that even in a world so dark with evil, light can remain and darkness must flee.

This years 2009 Young Women's Theme was, "Be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12) Jenny Phillips (a Latter Day Saint musician) prepared a wonderful presentation of music especially for this theme. My favorite song she prepared is called, "Light Keepers".

He knows it's hard to hold to His light sometimes.

The world is so far from the right, so just close your eyes, He'll help you shine.

Light keeper, be strong. Light Keeper walk on through the night.

When all the world is telling you, it's not worth the fight,

hold on to your light, hold it tight, Light Keeper

You might feel left behind, when other's leave the light.

Oh how the Father loves you.

He'll never leave your side, He'll help you shine.

Oh how you shine. You are filled with the Father's love.

You are worthy of His trust

Oh what beautiful light.

President Monson said, "You are an example of righteousness in a world that desperately needs your influence and your strength....Today, permissiveness, immorality, pornography, and the power of peer pressure cause many to be tossed on a sea of sin and crushed on the jagged reefs of lost opportunities, forfeited blessings and shattered dreams....You can share your testimony in many ways-by the words you speak, by the example you set, by the manner in which you live your life."

We are Light keepers. It is my hope that through my faults which are many, my friends family and especially children will be able to see my light and gain strength from it, to withstand the evil of the world. Because I do have testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I know it. I have felt it and still feel it now. I cannot deny the spirit I have felt telling me it is the truth.

I am grateful for the stability and blessings and joy the gospel brings to me and my families lives. I am thankful for great friends, family, and neighbors who make it easier for me to keep my light and strengthen it because they share their light with me.

and i am especially thankful for the ultimate example, Jesus Christ, the Greatest light of All....who provided a way for us to perfect ourselves so we can return to heaven with our families and be together always, there is no greater blessing......

Easter Treat

Here is a treat me and some friends and my sisters will be making at my house on Friday Night for Easter. They are so cute, easy and fun that I thought I'd share it with you all. If you make them you have to let me know how they turned out. You can find the recipe and directions here, at http://www.bakerella.blogspot.com/ under the month of April.

Some of the decorations might be hard to find. Try Orson & Giggy's (however you spell it) It is the "disneyland" of cooking/kitchen stores! You can find everything there. Have fun & enjoy!!!!

Ode to Char......

Char Coester:

mother of 4 adoreble children

wife

friend

neighbor

seamstress

culinary artist

crafter (makes Martha Stewart look like Elmo)

comedian

writer

blogger

example

Thank you Char for letting me become a tumor on your hip. I truly can't start my day until I have gabbed with you for an intended quick 5 minutes, which always seems to end up being closer to 2 hours as I talk your ear off about everything from our kids poop, to eco-friendly tampons. Thank you for answering my 5th phone call of the day so I can ask you at what temperature is the "hard crack" stage of candy, for letting me play mom to Baby Bennett, for stealing your Diet Coke and Cinnamon Bears, for late-night chats with you and BC, for letting me borrow your internet, for listening to all of my rants and raves, for letting my son play at your house so much he could practically be a tax right off, and most of all, keeping me around (not that you really have a choice, I know where you live :P) The list goes on and on...........

You can't get rid of me even though sometimes I am sure you wish you could.

In all fairness you were warned, tumor on your hip, ...........that's all I have to say about that. You Rock and you know it. To many more poop filled conversations!

"Way back When"sday

I am going to be a sneaky thief and steal this clever idea from my brilliant friend, Brooke because I love it. Every Wednesday I will pick an old pic to share amongst the blogging world, just for the pure fun of it. (wait til you see some of my fabulous hair do's)

So for today's pic I have chosen one of me and Keelee.
(remember this day, Keelee???)

August 1998

We were always doing "spa days" like this to ourselves. We would do facials, pedi's, mani's, make-up, get all dressed up and go somewhere fun. That was over 10 years ago. The sad thing is, is that we just did the same thing last weekend, sleep-over and all. I guess we will never grow up! I sure hope not. I have so much fun being with Kee. She always makes me wet my pants laughing, is the most spontaneous person I know, eats tons of food with me, and shares my sick, sarcastic humor. Luv Yur Gutz Kee! To many more "spa days".

P.S. The Jazz lost to the Trail Blazers last night. 104 to 125. Poopy!!!

I am requesting that a few friends of mine follow the lead on "Way back when-sday's": Char Coester, Elizabeth Tongi, Tiffany Lund, Bethany Hinckley, Jamie Tuft, Josephine Booth, Whitney Booth, Lindsey Kemmethmueller and anyone else who loves the idea.
