Why I love Strep Throat!

Pro's:

  • James took the day off (and then...... left with the kids)

  • I got to sleep in until noon (but then felt like crap because I did so)

  • I require Jamba Juice! Yummy!!! (which is totally against my diet plan, oh well! Thanks Jen Allen for quenching my craving and surprising me with a Jamba Juice, Love your guts!!!!)

My new best friend

  • I have been able to catch up on daytime T.V. (now I know why I don't watch daytime T.V.!)

  • I haven't put on an ounce of make-up, or styled my hair for a whole 48 hours ( I miss my MAC lip-stick) :0(

  • I haven't lifted a finger in my house ( and now it looks like Hurricane Katrina has ripped through it, and if the laundry pile gets any bigger it will soon require a social security number)

  • My kids have gotten to play tons and tons with their wonderful dad. (They come home dirty and smelling like little wet dogs) :0)

  • I've been in jammies the last 48 hrs. (which means "the girls" have been free from their bra too and are looking a little sad)

  • I couldn't work and got to watch American Idol tonight. (which means I also lost some money)

Simon, even though you can make some nasty comments...I still think you're hot!

P.S. referring to American Idol this is who I believe will survive: Allison, Kris, DaNnY GoKeY (my fave), & Matt

props to Anoop but he won't make it all the way. (Sorry Kee, I know you love this boy)

HATE Adam Lambert :Not a big fan of "guy-liner", when a guy wears more make-up than me and uses more hair product than me.....something is wrong in the world!!!!

  • Instead of "toughing it out" with any virus, I get to be treated with an anti-biotic because i have bacteria!!!! (that doesn't sound very appealing, does it????)

Cons:

  • I am not so hot right about now (except for my 103 degree temperature)

  • I had to wait 90 minutes at Insta-Care to see a doctor (but had a lovely conversation with another mommy in the lobby)

  • I had to wait 20 minutes at Wallgreen's (not bad) for my prescriptions to be filled (I sat in their massage chair while waiting)

  • I am either freezing hot or shivering cold (which means, James get a random strip show all through out the night, that would be cool except for the fact he is totally wiped out from watching the kids all day and even if it did lead to something I feel like crap and am contagious for 72 more hours)

  • I love my bath tub and visit it 2-3 times per day (wow, my water bill is gonna suck)

  • I haven't visited TJ MAXX for a good 72 hours (I am saving money afterall!)

  • Haven't hung out with Keelee for a good 48 hours now (Man, I know she misses me)

  • Had to skip out on Young Women's activity today (Love those kids)

So I guess it is easy to say I really DON'T love Strep, and I am going to lobby for a new law that allows Mother's 3 full days of sick leave No question's asked!

Tax Return = Re-Model

Our house was built in 2003, which means it is alomost 6 years old. But after 3 little boys have lived here, James & myself having no money to properly furnish it, and nothing but dirt being tracked in and out, due to no yard for the first two years it existed, you would guess it was more like 2o years old. It was in major need of a "facelift". So with this years tax return we decided to fix her up. (it was either that or another tropical vacation, and although I am very thrilled with my house and the amazing work me and James were able to do, I have to admit with it snowing today a week on a sunny island, sipping virgin Pina Colada's and working on my lack of a tan, sounds pretty lovely right about now

It started with replacing our carpet. I would have been greatful, just for that. But James (a.k.a. "Bob-the Builder") wanted to take it a step further by ripping out a wall, repainting, & new carpet. I was a bit hesitant because I knew that meant a ton of effort, and I wasn't sure if I was feeling it! So after a very brief discussion, nothing set in stone, mind you, I went to work in my salon and put the thought aside in my mind, for now!

When I came back up from work, a wall was missing! Yes, James doesn't take anything very lightly! And 1 month later, we were finished! Wow, he is fast, and I am Greatful! It was no fun having a house torn apart in the middle of winter with 3 little boys! But it looks great!

We chose darker carpet and furniture (we learned fast that light colors don't work well with boys) and did 3 tone paint, with "Mission Style" waynes coating on the wall. It looks awesome. I haven't decorated yet because I am not used to contemporary style. So if you have any ideas do share! Here are some pictures of the finished product.

This is the new area that used to be the "home-teacher" room

The "Mission Style" Waynes Coating on my walls

Earlier this summer we were also able to remodel our bedroom. It was way fun. We textured the upper half of the walls, painted, and then glazed them, I can't remeber the name of our paint. The bottomnm half of the walls have wall frames and is a very dark brown (Crosby, by Ralph Lauren). I love it! I refinished all of my furniture in a Ralph Lauren paint called, "Aged Mint", and then beat the crap out of it to distress it, sanded it down on the edges, and then glazed it too. It is bold and eclectic. I accented it with burnt orange. It turned out lovely, the pics don't do it justice.

Bedroom

Bed pillows

bath-tub accents

chest of drawers

a portion of my vanity

My favorite piece of furniture

So as you can guess, we have been very busy at our house. I say, "we", but I should really say, "my husband". James is the muscle behind the brain (which would be me) I will come up with the idea, which is pretty harmless and simple to do. He created it and makes it happen. So, Thank you James for being my "Bob the Builder", you have an amazing talent and I take you for granted! Bob Villa.........Eat your heart out! I love you babe!

Saved by Pink Lip-stick

MAC Lipstick in "On Hold" :MAC lipgloss in "Pink Lemonade".

Do you ever have those days where you just don't feel like getting ready or maybe you do want to get ready but for what?!?!?! Not to brag, but I have a pretty great closet full of, what I think to be, some stinkin' cute clothes (due to my shopping addiction) also included in there is shoes purses, accessories etc......... you name it, I probably got it! Thank you TJ MAXX!!!

I have nothing special to do today, so why spend all that time fluffing my hair and primping only so I can go to Wal-Mart to buy "Great Value" goceries, or fold laundry for 5 hours or wipe boogers off my cutie-pies? There is great joy in getting dressed and ready for the day, but today is not feeling like one o fthose days.

I am so worthless today! Don't want to do anything due to a weekend of staying up way too late and having sleep-overs with Keelee. I am sitting here in 2 day dirty hair a sweatshirt and sweat bottoms as my kids watch their 3 movie today while still in their Marvel Hero jammies. Wow.....I'm a loser! I know I should do something with myself but I am tired and don't have to work until 5.

Okay this is just gross.......hop in the shower, get dressed, and put on some make-up! Wait a second............MaKe-Up!!!!!!!! I bought me a new shade of lipstick and gloss this last weekend while hangin out with Keelee at the new Nordstrom's. It is the cutest shade of pink.
I LOVE my make-up and playing in it! I think I will get my butt up and go get ready, Can't wait! I'm so thankful for MAC! They keep me motivated on days like these. What would a girl do without a good shade of lip-stick!

You FrEaKiN' people!!!!

It's 3:04 a.m. and I can't seem to drag myself away from all of your blogs. Could you quit writing such funny/heartfelt/random blogs, your killing me,........geez!!!

Dear Winter,

We have had alot of good moments together this last year, but it is over between us. It is safe to say that i am over you,..........completely. You have been so great to let me enjoy your snow, by tubing, and snowboarding...........making snowmen & gracing me with your presence during Christmas. But, it is definately time you move on. The ralationship has gone stagnant and you just aren't doing it for me anymore. I get really tired of the games you play. You keep messing with my mind by keeping away for awhile and letting things warm up, just to have me wake up to you again in the morning with snow covering the ground. It's not fair. And it's really starting to get the best of me.

I have been seeing someone esle on the side here and there. His name is Spring and he is really great. He brings me flowers and makes me feel warm all over, nothing like your cold heart. I am really starting to like him, and am hoping he sticks around. Please don't take this personal. You know how bored I can get in these kind of relationships. And don't worry about me, if Spring doesn't do it for me either, and I get bored of him, there is always, Summer. He's a nother guy I met quite a long time ago. I liked him and I have a feeling he'll come around again.

So take your cold gray days, freezing winds, icy driveways and don't bother looking back. I'm done with you. (at least until next year)

Sincerely, Jami

Lap-top heaven and BACHELOR Hell!!!!!

Yay! We were finally able to buy a lap-top. So here I am, officially back in the blogging world. And what have I chosen to write about after my long time away from the blogging world ???????

None other than ...............................THE BACHELOR !!!!!!!

For those of you who are faithful watchers of , "The Bachelor" where I am sure you invite your closest "peeps" and your BFF's to coo and drool over the handsome single hottie while munching on chocolate covered cinnamon bears and other high-carb foods, hear me out.

Admittingly, last night's episode (which was the "final rose ceremony"....LAME!!!!) was my first and only look into this seasons edition. I am so grateful that in the end I only wasted 3 hours of my time last night instead of 1 hour each monday while the show ran.

Before I offend anyone too much by backing the show in a corner and ripping it a new one let me explain why I am so quick to batter it. I will admit that although it is extremely entertaining to watch with all of the caddiness girls can bring to reality T.V. when fighting over a man, it is also very fascinating. Who would actually put themselves in that position? Immediately, before the show starts I lose huge amount of respect for anyone so willing to line up like a peice of good steak in a butcher shop, just so some single guy can pick you, prod you, kiss you, as you willing give your heart to him on a silver platter along with 20 other women!!!!!!!! Then to act surprised when it is over and all you are left with is a pretty dress, a broken heart, and a new STD! DUUUHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! What the crap did you expect?!?!?!?!?!?

So I make my case with the following points:

  • If you stick any two people together on a tropical island, hand feed each-other papaya, and have dates every day like sailing off into the sunset and, oil rub down massages, I am pretty sure you are bound to have some feelings. Heck, you could stick me on on island with Richard Simmons for 6 weeks, feeding eachother chocolates, horseback riding in the surf of the ocean, while he shows me his latest moves to "dance your fat off" and I would probably fall head over heels.
  • I'm sure 6 weeks later I would come to my senses, after I have been ripped form my tropical paradise, am eating McDonalds with my new found love, in sweat pants and a T- shirt, while fighting over who was supposed to take out the garbage, (not to mention the fact that Richard is gay and it would have never worked out, not so much because of the gay thing, but because I could never date a man whose shorts are shorter than mine!).
  • Not so pretty or romantic now, are we???? Reality of life sets in, you find that your signicant other isn't so perfect, life isn't just rainbows and unicorns and in all actuality can be pretty boring and, well,...... normal. Which isn't a bad thing at all, I will get to that point later on.
  • So after realizing life isn't always love on a tropical island, you start doubting your decision. Afterall the other girl you sent home broken hearted and crying, never farted in front of you or had morning breath, or admitted she loved popping her zits! She was fun on all those amazing dates, dressed top-notch every day, and cooked amazing meals and rubbed your feet while singing you her newly composed love song she wrote especially for you. Oh CRAP!!!!!!!! You chose the wrong one.

  • No you didn't, fool!!!! It's called reality, something ABC, NBC, CBS or any other television forgot to explain before you signed up for this, that although it may be called,"reality T.V." there isn't one ounce of reality about it!

I am here to defend marriage!!!! It is THE most important decision that will either bring you eternal joy with it's up's and downs included, or it will bring eternal suffering. Marriage isn't meant to be easy, otherwise God would never have commanded that a man and women join together in the bounds of the everlasting covenants. He knew it would help prepare us, teach us, humble us and refine us. That doesn't sound to romantic or exciting, does it????? Well, it is.

There is something great about normalcy and consistency. I will try my best to explain by using what I have learned from the boys I dated growing up. (don't worry, no names)

Boyfriend A, as I will refer to him was amazing! Not the cutest but by far the sweetest! ALWAYS spoiling me, taking me out on dates, buying me flowers, writing me poems, drawing pictures of me, It was wonderful for the first few months but then I got tired of it. It was too much of a good thing. There never was much of any crap or just normal watching a movie dating, or seeing eachother at are worst, always perfect, to the point that it made "perfect" seem so everday normal that it could never get any better. There was nothing to look forward to. Every flower had been bought, every dollar had been spent, every poem had been spouted out, every chocolate eaten. We got bored with eachother, and hence, we broke up.

It would be like the CEO of Hershey's coming over to your house and telling you that you will be eating nothing but chocolate every day for every meal for the rest of your life. It would be amazing for a while but then you would get tired of it and would crave for some yummy home cooked normal spaghetti dinner, or even Top Ramen. (although Keelee begs to differ and has openly admitted that she would love eating chocolate every day for the rest of her life)

After boyfriend A, we move to Boyfriend B. The complete opposite of boyfriend A. He was way good looking, but major lacking in the chivalary department. Never spouted out a poem, complimented me, took me on a "real" date, bought me presents, fed me chocolates, etc...... I think I stuck around with him because it at first was liberating to not feel so taken care of. So what that he didn't get my door, I am a strong independant girl, I can get my own door, and who cares that he never offered to pay for my meal, it is a new day and age, we shouldn't expect guys to fork over money for us. The lack of not enough charm wore on me and we broke up!

Next would be boyfriend C. A great combination of A & B with some added bonuses. Took me out on dates, but could still chill and hang out, complimented me enough, but didn't make me feel like i was being lied to by telling me I was drop-dead gorgeous when i was PMS-ing, bloated, broken out, crampy& onery . Brought me flowers on occasion, just enough to appreciate them, and wrote me notes with simple messages expalining his feelings. We enjoyed eachothers company, had the same goals in life and had amazing chemistry. Butterflies are a good thing to feel in your tummy when dating! Hence, Boyfriend C became my husband. Yes I am refering to my darling James.

I still get excited everday to know that he will come through the doors around 4:30 p.m. and give me a hug and a kiss. I love that since having kids most of our date nights have been reduced to a Blockbuster rental and popcorn, or a night of Skip-bo, and we still have a good time. It makes the amazing date nights even more amazing!!!! I love that he knows me so well he can finish my sentence, or that I can tell a joke he would say even if I don't think it is very funny. I love that we can disagree and get in a heated debate over stupid things but know that we will still love eachother in the end. I love that he thinks I look HOT in my old Taylorsville High Sweat shirt with my hair pulled back in a bun. Our relationship is enough of a good thing to make it perfect for us, yet has a bit of normalcy and conflict (for lack of a better word) to keep it interesting.

Elder Dean L. Larsen of the Presidency of the Seventy has said: “Marriage is not an easy venture. It is largely a one-time-through, do-it-yourself project for the husband and wife. I repeatedly encounter the illusion today, especially among younger people, that perfect marriages happen simply if the right two people come together. This is untrue. Marriages don’t succeed automatically. Those who build happy, secure, successful marriages pay the price to do so. They work at it constantly.” (Ensign, March 1985, p. 20.)

I love this quote and second it! Your marriage is what you and your spouse make of it. We work at it because we have an eternal perspective. "Where ther is no vision, the people perish." (Proverbs 29:18) Like wise, if there is no vision, a marriage will perish. Don't let yourself get caught up in the media, or the worlds interpretation of what your marriage should be. Make it what YOU & your hubby want it to be! And if you find yourself watching shows like the Bachelor, you too can grin and laugh in knowing that those poor people just don't get it, and you and I can be Grateful that we do!!!!!
