Yesterday in church 2 of the High Council were there to speak to us. Here is one little tid-bit that stuck out to me in one of the talks that I wrote in my church journal to focus on for this week. It is a quote from Joseph Smith found in the introduction to the Book of Mormon.
"the Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion, and a man [will] get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book"
I sometimes find myself wanting to learn as much as I can or read as much as I can about the gospel to strengthen my testimony and knowledge. I have read biographies on Joseph Smith, attended Women's Conference, watch the BYU devotionals on T.V. etc.....
These have all been great resources to help me, but in the end, all I really need is to study THE gospel itself (a.k.a. The Book of Mormon) It now seems kind of silly to me that as much as I desired to learn more about the gospel and saught it out in other places, all I needed to do was look at my night stand and open up that book that has sat there sometimes way too long, and has collected a little too much dust and READ it!!!! How simple is that!!!
Goal for this week/year/life:
Read my scriptures every day!!!!

I really thought about this yesterday and was totally planning on doing it, but then BC shafted me and stayed home and Bennett was naughty and I don't remember a darn thing anyway.

Hey Missy!!! So on September 11th which was on Thursday I was just going back to the past and I can still remember where I was and what I was doing. You and I went to school and someone said a mall blew up and we didn't have any idea what was going on? Come to find out it was the World trade center and thats all we knew because Lyle wouldn't turn on the Tv!!! To make a long story short school got out and you and I went to Hires to get a big old cherry coke and a Big H!!! Then I remember I slept over at your house and we went to get little American flags to pin on our shirts from Roberts craft store!!! I will always remember that day!!!!
Hey girl, it's Stephanie Grable (Barton). Stacy brought me over your card. Her hair looks so cute. I definitely think you need to put some color into it. Anyway, just wanted to say hi!
