Sunday's Words of Wisdom........

(as long as you don't forget the Cheerio's, coloring books, crayons, file folder games, quiet books, cookies, markers, stickers, duct tape, ..............)

So, anyone of you who have children under the age of 5 (or even older) are fully aware that Sacrament meeting on Sunday's can be quite the challenge! Well, try having a 5 year old and 2 twin 3 year old boys to keep reverent. You can imagine how fun that is ! We have the usually things that all of us parents have; cheerio's, mormon file folder games, crayons, coloring books, quiet books etc....You name it, we got it! (by the way, any fun suggestions you have to keep kids quiet in scarament, feel free to lend me a hand......pLeAsE!)

I found that wrestling with my kids all sacramnet to keep them reverent and busy, usually means I haven't heard one thing that was said. So, to help me be better about actually paying attention to the speaker's, feeling the spirit, and strengthening my testimony, I have decided to take a journal to church. I try to listen for at least one good point that I can apply to my life (although there are always many good points, I just happen to have time for usually one), I write it down, try to focus on that for the week, and then I don't feel so guilty about not learning anything in Sacrament meeting!

Here is last Sunday's great "word's of wisdom" from Brother Allen, a member of the bishopbric.

"Worship Heavenly Father throughout the entire week and not just on Sunday"

That is something that I will work on. Show Heavenly Father that Me and my family love Him every day by choosing the right. Some things I came up with to do that:
  • make some treats with my boys and take them to someone who needs a "pick me up".
  • Read my scriptures every night with my family before bed and then personally on my own.
  • Allow only up-lifting music, video's, T.V. shows in my house (no more Nelly, unless clean, which pretty much means,...... no more Nelly)
  • Spend QuAliTy time with my kids.
  • Prepare meaningful Family Home Evenings for my family. (again, suggestions would be lovely!!!)
  • Quit swearing! ( i really gotta work on this one, %$#! it !)

Reader's of my blog,

Look forward to "Sunday's Word's of Wisdom" every Monday morning. I tag you ALL to post your own word's of wisdom you heard in your sacramnet meetings. I look forward to it!

I've been nervous with Porter in nursery... nervous that he might repeat one of the swear words he's learned from me.

Cute new page! Thanks for sharing that, I don't even have kids and I still don't pay near enough attention to the speakers in Sacrament, I totally need to start making a CONSCIENCE effort to pay more attention. I really believe you need to absorb it ALL to get you through an entire week! A journal is a great idea, ha, I prob won't really do it but I like the thought anyways!

Someone just gave me an idea that I thought was a good one. You know how everyone starts putting their books, cheerios, etc...into their bags before the meeting is actually over? If you concentrate on what the person is saying at the very end of the meeting it is usually a nice, succinct wrap up of the entire talk but it also is the time the speaker shares their testimony (the spirit is strongly present.) Until that final 'Amen', be still. I've tried to do this and it does make a difference. Love you.

Right there with ya! Great idea for trying to catch at least one thought. I like it! I'll pay attention to yours, because chances are I missed it because one of my kids was screaming! Thank heavens for nursery so I at least have SS & RS!
